I’m actually off smoking I just can’t seem to stop the nail biting.I’ve tried the bad tasting stuff it just didn’t help long term. I’m going to try the Popsicle stick idea. Thanks!!!
Dear Cigarette Sally,
Based on your web name “Cigarette Sally” and your question regarding nail biting it is an educated guess that you are a high energy person that may be addicted to the oral fixation of smoking and nail biting. The physical motion of hand to mouth offers a form of control when circumstances occur that make you nervous and/or excited; the motion is calming and “takes the edge off”. Therefore, I would suggest carrying a bag of unused Popsicle sticks or toothpicks in your purse and car. This way you can get the craving to bite, chew or hold something you will not cause harm to yourself, your teeth or the planet while getting the psychological fix needed at the time.
You could also try a product like “Mavala” a bitter tasting serum that when applied properly, inhibits biting due to it’s awful taste; you can find “Mavala” on Amazon.com for under $10.00.
I hope this helps you and wish you best of luck.
Thank you for visiting changingbadhabits.com.
